Strike off processes were temporarily paused from 21 January 2021 so that companies and creditors would not be adversely affected by processing delays at Companies House.

On 8 March Companies House will resume the process to dissolve companies who have applied for voluntary strike off, and those who they believe are no longer carrying on business or in operation.

In line with the government’s COVID-secure guidance, Companies House has reduced the number of staff in their offices, which has led to delays in processing correspondence, documents and forms.

As we wrote earlier, the first Gazette notices for voluntary strike off applications continue to be published to minimise the impact on those who have applied to close their company – but Companies House are not publishing the second Gazette notice and striking companies off during this period. For companies on the compulsory strike off path, they are not publishing the first and second Gazette notices.

If you can, file online to make sure your documents are processed quickly.
